Offshore Emergency Response Team Member (OERTM)
Description
Course Overview
OERTM plays a pertinent role in the safety of personnel and equipment offshore within situations constituting an emergency. These operators are trained in carrying out immediate, effective operation emergency response actions concerning toxic gas releases, fires, or structural damage to facilities. Their duties include joining in fire drills, following the procedures, and risk assessment on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), as well as proper communication with the other members of the team and the OERTL.
OERTMs approach incidents under the guidance of an OERTL. They do this in such a manner that the response is controlled and coordinated, with continuous attention to safety risks. They shall be able to use firefighting equipment, operate breathing apparatus, conduct a search and rescue operation, and assist in casualty handling and recovery. By ability and commitment, the OERTMs make an important contribution to maintaining a safe and secure offshore environment with minimal risk to protect life and assets.
