Major Emergency Management Initial Response (MEMIR)

Description

A professional Offshore Installation Manager (OIM), experienced in emergency operations and procedures, will lead the Major Emergency Management Initial Response (MEMIR) course. Its purpose is to immerse delegates in various simulated emergencies, enabling them to learn command, control, and communication strategies while maintaining composure.

The MEMIR Training aims to formally train personnel in command, control, communication, and stress management aspects of handling major emergencies. Additionally, it offers initial emergency management training for individuals progressing towards the role of an emergency response manager.

The objectives of MEMIR Training are as follows:

a) Gain an understanding of key factors involved in preparing for, responding to, and maintaining control during emergency situations as they unfold or escalate.

b) Learn to manage communication, emergency-related information, and implement predetermined plans from the moment the emergency alarm is raised until assurance that the emergency has concluded.

c) Understand the impact of stress on individuals and team performance during emergencies.

d) Engage in role-playing as the emergency manager in at least two specific types of emergency scenarios, a pivotal aspect of the training program supported by constructive feedback from the instructional team.

Target Audience

Offshore Installation Managers (OIMs), Barge Masters, Health and Safety leaders, and members of the onboard emergency response team.

  • 11. Strengthen decision-making abilities in rapidly changing, high-risk situations to ensure the best possible outcomes.

  • 12. Understand the transition from initial response to long-term emergency management and recovery operations.


Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Background in emergency response or safety roles (preferred).
  • Completion of basic safety training (e.g., BOSIET, HSE).
  • Ability to manage the physical demands of emergency situations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
